Ghella confirms its support to Operation Smile for increased health supplies in Satarém and Porto Velho, Brazil

We aim to be guarantors of acts of responsibility towards others with the purpose of leaving a better world for future generations. With this in mind, we have confirmed our support to Fondazione Operation Smile, helping to increase medical, surgical, orthopedic, and anesthetic supplies in hospitals in Satarém and Porto Velho in Brazil.   

Founded in 1982, Operation Smile is a global nonprofit specializing in expert cleft surgery and care. It provides medical expertise, research and care through their dedicated staff and medical and student volunteers around the world, working alongside local governments, nonprofits, and health systems. Operation Smile has been committed to providing patients with health that lasts through life-saving cleft surgeries and comprehensive care.  

In 2023, our support helped fund Cariri's surgical program where 55 free surgeries were provided to patients who did not have access to surgery and multidisciplinary care was provided to 98 patients.   

This year, our donation will help fund health, surgical, orthopedic, and anesthetic supplies as part of the partnership that Fondazione Operation Smile has with Hospital Ragional do Baixo Amazonas in Satarém and Hospital de Base Dr. Ary Pinheiro in Porto Velho, Brazil. They aim to provide multidisciplinary care for about 200 patients and offer more than 90 free cleft surgeries between July 2023 and June 2024.
