TBM 'Thần Tốc' Breaks Through for Hanoi's Pilot Light Metro Line 3

The Tunnel Boring Machine "Thần Tốc" ("Flash") has successfully completed its breakthrough at Station S10, marking the halfway point of its tunneling work. Designed and manufactured by Herrenknecht, the TBM measures over 100 meters in length and weighs approximately 850 tons.

The Pilot Light Metro Line 3 is the first underground metro line in Vietnam’s capital. It extends 12.5 kilometers, connecting Nhon—located in the Tay Tuu neighborhood of Nam Tu Liem district, in western Hanoi—to Hanoi Station. The line consists of 8.5 kilometers of elevated tracks and 4 kilometers of underground tunnels and includes the construction of four underground stations: Kim Ma Station, Cat Linh Station, Van Mieu Station, and Hanoi Station.
